Subject: Italian flood of Bangladesh Manchester Quest CD rehashes...
Date: 18 Nov 1993 13:36:14 -0600
EDLIS has had some trouble documenting the flood of
Bangladesh/Manchester/Quest CDs rehashing the same old
material. If anyone has any of these CDs please get in
contact. Equally if you see any corrections to the listings
below, please mention them... Or anything helpful that could
be added to aid people in avoiding spending large sums on
pointless CDs...
Note the tentative nature of these listings, some are even
without matrix numbers.

A ridiculous and incompetent piece of bootlegging, aimed
only to fool the unwary buyer. The producers may be morons,
but they will not be poor morons, there are enough fools to
buy this garbage. All tracks are simply lifted from other
CDs, and placed in the most preposterous order imaginable.
Cut back on the acid next time chaps...
CD 1: "All songs by Bob Dylan. Recorded live at Madison
Square Garden, New York, 1971 (1,2,5,8) at Royal Albert
Hall, London 26.5.1966 (3,4,6,7,9) and at Quest TV Canada
1964 (10)"
CD 2: "All songs by Bob Dylan except 8 (McKinley
Morganfield) and 11 (Von Schmidt). Recorded live at Royal
Albert Hall, London 26.5.1966 (1,2,11), at Madison Square
Garden, New York 1971 (3), at Quest TV Canada, 1964
(4,5,6,7) and at Finyan Club Montreal, 2.7.1962 (8,9,10)
Bob Dylan: guitar, vocals, harmonica
London concert: Robbie Robertson: guitar, Rick Danko: bass,
Garth Hudson: keyboards, Richard Manuel: piano, Mickey
Jones: drums
New York concert: George Harrison: guitar, vocals, Leon
Russel: bass, vocals, Ringo Starr: percussions".
The CD has a fist with variable thumb position as a "Sound
quality guide for this CD". This one gets a "2-good".
The Bangladesh Concert (1, 2, 5, 8, 13) is available on the
legitimate CD The Concert For Bangladesh (1971).
The eight tracks of the Free Trade Hall, Manchester concert
(3-4, 6-7, 9, 11-12, 21) are available in sensible order on
the CD Royal Albert Hall 1966 [T-121] but may have been
lifted from the copy of that CD called Like A Rolling Stone
[T-122]...
The Quest Show (10, 14-17) is ultimately lifted from Dr.
Zimmerman's Original Old Time Hootenany [T-107] complete
with all the listing errors! The physical source may well
have been Bob Dylan Live [T-151] which lifted its Quest Show
tracks from Dr. Zimmerman's Original Old Time Hootenany
missing out the same track as is missing here: A Hard Rains
A Gonna Fall [5].
A decent copy of the Finjan Club tape (18-20) is available
complete and in order on Live, Finjan Club, Montreal,
Canada, July 2, 1962 [T-156]. The source for these tracks
may ultimately have been Montreal 1962 New York 1961 [T-103]
because here too "Finjan" is misspelled "Finyan"!
TOWNSEND NUMBER: 273
PERFORMANCE: 7
SOUND: 4
RECOMMENDATION: 0 Cf T-121, T-107, T-103, T-274, T-275, T-
276.
